Croquet for a Cause

"No one can do everything, but everyone can do something."

What can a stay-at-home-mom really do in the fight against sex trafficking? That thought has crossed my mind many times over the past nine months since I first learned of the growing global issue. And finally, my friend Julie and I recently did something. We recently hosted a garden party and croquet match benefit for The A21 Campaign, an organization devoted to abolishing injustice in the 21st century by combatting sex trafficking. Our goal was to raise awareness and funds and to motivate others to get in the fight.

The event was a bit of a stretch for us because neither of us have ever done anything like this. We definitely had our ups and downs and moments of doubt throughout the process of planning, preparing, and carrying out the event but we are confident that God used our efforts to accomplish His purposes. After all, it is really our privilege to be able to partner with Him in standing up for the oppressed.

"Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless.
Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed,
so mere people can no longer terrify them."
~Psalm 10:17-18 {NLT}

We couldn't have made this event happen without the support of our families and the help of our friends who donated time and resources. Thanks babe for putting up with stressed-out-me the week of the event!
 It was a blessing to work with so many talented friends on this event. Julie made several gorgeous chalkboard signs and photographed the event. Other friends donated food and helped with various craft projects and arranged flowers for us.
Some of the croquet participants including our handsome husbands.
We raised funds by selling raffle tickets for cakes and pies that were made and donated by friends. Really wish I could have tasted some of these treats!

 Some of the yummy food and treats we made for the picnic lunch with the help of many friends and a peek at a few of the flowers arranged for us by a friend.
Me and Julie {and Lanie Kate}. It was truly a blessing to work with such a passionate and talented woman.

"The oppressed do not see too much difference between those who would keep them down and those who do nothing to help."
