Thailand!

Last weekend we had the chance to spend a long weekend at the beach in Phuket, Thailand. We shared a gorgeous two bedroom villa on a small island off the coast of Phuket with our friends, the H's. Q and I left early Wednesday morning with Christina to get a head start on the boys and enjoy a few extra beach days.  Unfortunately, I forgot Q's stuffed bear blanket thing that he sleeps with and thus the first couple of days weren't all that enjoyable until he learned how to sleep without it! We got lucky when we checked in that the garden view villa we had booked wasn't yet available so we got upgraded to a fantastic oceanview villa with it's own infinity pool overlooking the water.

The first couple of days were kind of rainy and we spent a lot of time in the villa reading and relaxing. By Friday though it was beautiful (and Q was over the bear issue just in time for Daddy to arrive with the forgotten bear). The weather was really beautiful (albeit, very hot and humid) the rest of our stay and you could clearly see the countless off shore islands dotting the horizon that Thailand is famous for.

We spent lots of time just enjoying the resort.  Quinn was obsessed with the coy fish ponds and we had to stop at every one we passed every time to say hello to the fish. He also loved the pool and got very adventurous climbing down off the ledge where he could touch into the deep water where he knew we would help him. He did not however care for the beach or the ocean. If we were at the beach he would remain glued to a beach chair and only once was he enticed by a ball to get off the chair of his own will.  When he realized the ball was also sandy he got pretty upset. Such a goober! We enjoyed having the infinity pool at the villa where we could go for swims while Q was napping. And we were happy to have a wonderful kids club where Q could go and have fun for a couple hours while we actually relaxed (I even got a massage at the spa!).

Sunday we hired a driver and ventured into Phuket. We drove up to "big buddha," a massive statue on a very high hill where there were fantastic views of all of Phuket.  We also visited a collection of gorgeous Buddhist temples. And the highlight of my trip, we rode an elephant!

Mostly, I was just happy to be out of the city and away from the constant hum of construction that is ever-present in Singapore and to enjoy some fresh air!

Husband posted some picture on facebook if you are interested in those.  Here are just a couple of our family enjoying the resort.
